- Bryan's Insights
Bryan has always considered himself a business advisor who happens to be a lawyer. And while that has become a common refrain throughout the legal industry, perhaps nobody “walks the walk” like Bryan does. In 2016, the firm co-founder and former managing partner left his day-to-day practice at Levenfeld Pearlstein to become president of a firm client - a closely-held manufacturing company. This move into corporate leadership was a natural career progression for Bryan, who while helping build LP was one of the original subscribers to the "lawyer as trusted business advisor" philosophy. His selection by a company to lead the entire organization, not just a legal department, is a tremendous point of pride, and proof of LP’s commitment to that vision.
Bryan served as LP’s managing partner for the firm's first 14 years of the firm’s existence before transitioning to the role of Chairman in 2013 as part of the firm’s formal succession planning process that he helped to create. That process is critical to the long-term success of our firm, as it aims to encourage change and foster the development of younger partners, laying the groundwork for a successful future. He remains affiliated with LP as Of Counsel.
Under Bryan’s pioneering leadership, LP became a nationally-recognized law firm and a model for the type of relationship a firm should have with its clients. Much of his vision for perfecting the client experience is today captured in the LP Way – the firm’s set of business processes on which it bases everything it does. LP captured recognition on The National Law Journal “Midsize Hot List” in 2014 and 2015, in part, due to its development of and commitment to The LP Way.
As a practicing attorney, Bryan represented private and closely-held companies, with an emphasis on family-owned businesses through their entire corporate lifecycle. He understands that a privately-held business is not just a passion, but a livelihood. He understands that in addition to the challenges of business, family members can create additional challenges. Bryan's conflict management skills are well-honed to deal with the joys and complexities of moving business governance from one generation to the next.
Married to his one love for more than 28 years, the father of three daughters, and a member of a close family, Bryan is privileged to have worked at LP with an incredible group of people and legal professionals.
