Saman Haque

Saman is an associate in the firm’s Employment & Executive Compensation Group, guiding employers on employment matters so they can minimize risk and focus on running their business. She frequently advises clients on updates to their employment handbook and internal policies to ensure compliance with state and federal laws concerning FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and anti-harassment requirements. She also guides clients through severance and separation agreement negotiations and drafts the corresponding documents.

When clients are involved in disputes or litigation, she investigates allegations by working with the client’s HR team, interviews and prepares witnesses, analyzes documents to determine the merits of the allegations, and drafts pleadings and other legal documents. She draws on her previous experience working for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in its Labor & Employment Division of the Civil Actions Bureau to develop effective litigation strategies and compelling arguments on behalf of her clients.

By providing advice tailored to clients’ unique situations, Saman helps her clients navigate complicated legal matters in a way that also advances their business objectives. She distills legal concepts for clients to better understand the nuances of complex employment laws while also helping them see the big picture.

Before joining LP, Saman was an attorney with Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She earned her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Active in the legal community, Saman serves on the Board of Directors for the South Asian Bar Association of Chicago and is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel Alumni Committee. She is a trial advocacy coach and adjunct professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law.

When she isn’t counseling clients, she enjoys testing out recipes from different cultures while infusing South Asian spices she watched her mom use, reading psychology studies, traveling, and writing poetry.
