Sy M. Peck

Sy is Of Counsel in the Corporate Group. He concentrates his practice on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and the general representation of middle market private companies, and he has represented many Chicago-area private equity funds, including Prairie Capital; Code, Hennessy, and Simmons; Prospect Partners; LaSalle Capital Group, and numerous other financial buyers.

Sy brings his decades of experience and vast knowledge of the field to bear in each deal he handles. He has “quarterbacked” hundreds of deals over the goal line to closing, advising clients on legal and business aspects of the deal. What truly sets Sy apart is his ability to think ahead of the issues at hand and to take a strategic and proactive approach to the transaction.

With nearly 40 years of experience in the industry, Sy is well respected by peers and clients alike. He was voted “Lawyer of the Year” in Chicago in 2012 for leveraged buyouts and private equity law by Chicago’s Best Lawyers, a division of US News and World Reports. He has also been rated in the first tier of private equity attorneys in Illinois by Chambers USA. Sy was also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, Illinois.

Prior to joining Levenfeld Pearlstein, he was most recently General Counsel of Prairie Capital and previously a partner with Sidley Austin LLP.
