Empowering Tomorrow’s Attorneys with Cutting Edge Training Technology + Support for The Innocence Project = Wins for LP and Our Clients

At LP, our Corporate Social Responsibility program reflects our values and culture as a law firm. We aim to make a difference for our clients, the community, and the individuals and organizations leading the way. Our commitment to CSR touches every corner of the firm, from partners and associates to professional staff and even our summer associates. As Michael St. Peter, a partner in our Corporate Group, said, “We invite all our team members, even our newest members, to be involved in the firm’s CSR efforts.”

This year, as part of our inaugural engagement with Hotshot Legal (hotshotlegal.com), a training software, Hotshot pledged to make a donation to a charity of our choice should all the Summer Associates complete two training tracks. We created two tracks for our Summer Associates: The Overview of Legal Practice Track (which provides a basic knowledge of litigation, M&A work, and corporate restructuring) and a Corporate Track (which examines the life cycle of a corporation, securities laws, deal structures, and loan types). The Summer Associates not only completed both tracks to receive their prestigious certificates, but they also praised the Hotshot modules for helping them grasp material they had not encountered before working at LP.

To cultivate and instill LP’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, we asked the Summer Associates to choose the charity to receive our donation. The Summer Associates chose to donate to the Innocence Project, a nonprofit that works to exonerate wrongly convicted individuals, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Our Summer Associate Program, our partnership with Hotshot Legal, and the corresponding donation to the Innocence Project is an excellent example of The LP Way in action – namely, attracting talent, leading by example, cultivating effective teams, aligning systems, and asking for feedback so we can provide an exceptional client experience.
