New Chicago Domestic Worker Agreement Regulations
Beginning January 1, 2022, any business or individual in Chicago that employs a domestic worker must provide that worker with a written contract. The written contract must include the worker’s wages and work schedule, and must be provided in the worker’s primary language, upon request. Domestic workers include housekeepers and cleaners, nannies and other childcare providers, caregivers, companion services, and any other employee other than a spouse or family member, who provides household services.
If you need a template contract to provide to a domestic worker, please reach out to your LP Trusts & Estates attorney. If you don’t have one, please reach out to Lauren Wolven at lwolven@lplegal.com.
